“You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.” — Admiral James Stockdale
It is mind blowing to think about this statement. Aren’t we human beings all bound to rather walk around our obstacles, I mean even in our private life. Faith that you will prevail in the end – that is so often the reasoning for not confronting the most brutal facts – even in our private life! We would rather for example keep the faith that we will at the end of the day have a good life and think this faith is the reason as to why we do not need to confront anyone that is hurting us right now.
To sit at the table of business owners, or even just successful people in 2023 we need to fundamentally transform to “NetPositive”, also Gary Vee talks about getting more “transparent”. He says the world gets more and more transparent so you have to be as authentic as possible to still be able to sell.
For companies this means “regenerative and circular” by keeping the materials and products in use for as long as possible, for us privately it means to accept the shortage of life, the view years we all have and take advantage of our resources without hurting one another. The best way to do so is getting clear about what you really want out of your life and set your mind on that. The first thing we need to do is take accountability of our life by sitting down with ourselves and a sheet of paper and if we are not sure of what it is we want and where we should go to, we could write a list of all the things we do not want to have in our lives and then go over them and find the opposite of them.
Paul Polman and Andrew Winston state in their new book, good read.
