“Where do I start?”, “I can’t do it”, “My skin is just too dry/oily/wrinkled/ectr.”
After reading this post you will have an easy go to formula to do your personal make-up routine. Trust me, it’s not that hard if you understand my key principles I am going to explain to you in this blog-post.
1. skin
Your skin could be oily, dry, you could suffer from acne, ectr. It is important to take care of your skin and prep it for laying on make-up.
I have mixed skin, depending totally on the time of year and my diet. To even out the dry skin on my forehead and the oily skin on my nose, I exfoliate several times a week with a very fine peeling. You can make your own. (For oily skin mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with your skin cleanser, any finely grounded sugar works as a substitute…) Make sure to be gentle on your skin but also exfoliate for 3-5 minutes.
Now your skin feels soft like a baby bum and is ready for applying lotion. I like to gently rub some coconut oil on it. I like to give it a little spritz of my Mac Setting Spray, which I love to use as a base. It makes the skin a little sticky and glossy after drying and the foundation glides on much more easily and stays in place for longer.
Foundation
After applying your foundation evenly its time for – Concealer – is what brightens spots of your face.
Apply it right under the bridge of the nose on both sides, in the inner corner of the eye and oon the dark circles under your eyes. This will make you look refreshed even after an exhausting work week. If your eyebrows are bushy like mine try to comb them upwards and then apply concealer underneath to give them a nice shape. This will not only make you look better groomed and lift your face, but it will also be the base for the eyeshadow as we blend the concealer on the eyelid.
I use a damp beauty blender for blending out.
Eyeshadow
With a clear or bright facepowder I lightly go over the concealed eyelid.
To save time I use my bronzer for carving out the shape of my eye. To know where to put it close your eyes and feel where your eyeball is. Imagine your eyeball area is the sun and the bronzer are the sunbeams. You don’t apply the bronzer on the sun but right along where your sunbeams would be, so right in the area that goes further inside when you open up your eyes
Bronzing and highlighting
I apply the bronzer underneath my cheekbones whilst making a fish face and smiling. This way its going to be on the right spot!
The highlighter goes to the inner corners of my eye and the highest point of my cheeks. I use the Mac soft and gentle, I highly reccomend.
Powder done – finishing steps
Now I take a soft eyeliner pen and put it on my eyelash wreath, so right where the eyelashes grow out and I smudge it. I do that mainly on the top lashes but sometimes I like to go in on the bottom as well for the Meghan Markle look.
Curling the lashes with a lash-curler makes them nicely rounded and afterwards I apply mascara. I like to apply mascara when tilting my chin higher so I look down onto the mirror and this way my lashes are less likely to touch my eyelid and smudge everything.
fake lashes and lipstick
If you are ready for the kicker apply some fake lashes. I reccomend you only apply half a lash band to the outer corner and not more. This will make your lashes look plausible and amazing.
I always like to put on natural lipliner and overline the top and bottom just at the center of the lip whilst following the natural lip on the corners. Believe me, this looks way better than overlining it all. After that I apply a little nude lipstick and I massage it in with my fingers.
Now what about blush?
I take the remainder on my fingers and put it right on the apples of my checks while smiling. I dap it in. I like to apply it on the higher outer parts of the apples because that gives a more lifted appearance.
Now we are good to go!
Practice this routine, its easy after a while.
Hello, I really liked your post.
